Our own little Pumpkin Festival

It was not the prettiest day in Indy but we desperately needed to get out of these cramped apartments so Steph found a Fall/Pumpkin festival nearby and we headed out.  Turns out nobody else thought it was a good time to go so we had the whole place to ourselves.  It was quite nice and I'm pretty sure the boys had an excellent time.

Started with a spin in the pumpkin.

Then the slowest slide ever off the tractor. Not much of a thrill when you are barely moving so that didn't last long.

Then onto the main event, the petting zoo.   This was quite the experience.  We were let into a pen that had about 8 goats, 2 llamas and a camel.  Remember that no other visitors had been there to feed them that day so as soon as we got in there, bam, they were on us.  Carter, being the smallest, got the brunt of one goat who jumped up on him and hoofed his face.  From that point on, I held Carter while he cried in my ear, "Let's get out of here."  Coop was really into it and fended for himself.  He loved feeding them all.  Even with the llamas (who were my height) he would reach up his little hand and feed away.  By the way, have you ever pet a llama?  They are sooooo soft!  I couldn't believe it.  We also had a run in with the camel.  My friend Steph got a pretty good picture of the camel nuzzling into my neck from behind.  Scared the heck out of me but we had quite a laugh!

Haystack maze that was not really a big hit.

Then for a little hayride around the farm where they scolded us for buying any produce at the grocery store.

I tell ya, its hard to take clear, crisp pictures in a moving, bumpy wagon!

And finally the corn maze...which we got lost in...and super muddy...and ended up coming out the entrance :-)

Just another Day at the Park

As the days draw to an end here in Indy, we are trying to hit up all the possible cool spots before we go.  Here is a cool park with 6 different playgrounds and big pile of mulch.  The boys (including the other Carter) had a good time.

The other Carter, affectionately known as Baby Carter.  He fits right in with my blond hair, blue-eyed boys. 

I think this picture is so cute however not 1 second after I turned away he lost his balanced and fell backwards right off the bench.  Poor guy!

After playing at the playgrounds, we went exploring.  We walked through rows of trees.

Found a little path to go down. 

And then found this cool monument.  Its the remains of some building brought here from some other state.  I'm sure its important but there were no signs to explain anything.  I'm still wondering what the heck it is!

We love having Steph and Carter here.  Its always more fun to go explore things together.

Wives Night

When we are out here during the summers supporting our husbands, it sometimes gets a little taxing on the wives.  So I decided it was time to plan a little Wives Night so we could get out and enjoy each other without our kids.  I got a babysitter for all the kids and we headed off to McCalister's Deli and Coldstone where we chatted, relaxed, and enjoyed each other's company.  Thanks girls for a great time.  

Next summer again for sure!!

Not usually

I'm not usually a thrift shopper but when I get out in the east, I just can't help it.  Their Goodwill stores out here are amazing.  I had to show my finds.  All of this for $24 and they are all in top quality condition. 

And this is only half of what I bought.  I found more at another Goodwill.

PS   You know, its interesting, I don't look for the name brands (GAP, Old Navy, Gymboree, Addidas) but when I 'm digging through and find something in good shape, it just so happens that its a name brand.  They are a little more expensive because their stuff really does last.
