Nap Time

Every day Carter takes a nap from 12-3pm so Coop and I have 3 hours to hang out and do some "arts and craft show" (as Cooper says).  So here are some of the things we have done during nap times.

My Projects

Flowers

I made these cute flowers to add to some flair to a couple of my shirts.

Flowered headbands

To spice up my hair. (gotta do something since my hair stylist is in Utah)

Cute crocheted hats for newborns 

I will be getting to use them for my new nephew's photoshoot

( I guess we better have a girl next ;-)

Homemade Decorations

 Since we don't bring any decorations with us I try to make some up when we get here

Coop's Projects

Coop LOVES to paint so that is how he spends alot of his time.

Other projects with beans and construction paper + glue.

He also spends a fair amount of time between bubbles, sidewalk chalk, & playdoh.  Once he's exhausted all his options, he gets to watch his 1 movie of the day.

So that's what we do everyday...anyone got any more ideas for us?  I think we may need some more pretty soon when he gets tired of these.

My funny Coop

Cooper picked me a flower (weed) the other day and came running up to give it to me.  After smelling it and giving the appropriate response (“I love it, it’s beatufitul!) he quickly ran away to play.  I promptly chuck it behind me (it really was a weed, like an already blown out dandelion).  Little did I know that Cooper would come back so quickly, spot the flower/weed on the ground, realize that it was the exact one he tried to give me,  and come back to me with it in hand and say in his sweet voice, “Mommy, don’t you want this?”  My heart melts and I say, “Oh I knew I had dropped it somewhere.  Thank you for finding it for me!”  Whoo, dodged a bullet on that one ;-)

While sitting in church, Coop’s cousin Jade told him that they had a giant ball they were bringing over to play with.  The kind you can actually get in and roll around in.   Well shortly after, Coop leans over to Uncle Tyler (Jade’s Dad) and says, “You have big balls?”  He only hesitates a little before putting on a big smile and saying, “Why yes I do!”

We were walking home the other day and Coop was complaining about not wanting to walk anymore.  I tell him he’s fine and he’ll survive the 20 yards further we had to go.  He thinks about that and says, “But Mom, I have a cough so my legs don’t work.”  Hmmm, I think we need to work on our cause and effect statements.         

Bath Time

I realized the other day that I have tons of pictures of Coop in the bathtub as a baby because he was always so happy in there.  So I whipped out the camera and got some great shots of Carter finally.  The bath tub is such a happy place :-)

You might be thinking to yourself Why did she put this picture in when his eyes are closed?  No, no, this is what Carter does when I say smile :-D  I think the first thing he noticed when we were teaching him was our squinty eyes and not our smile.  Now its stuck like that!

A Little Beach Time

We decided to head to the popular Alki Beach this weekend for some much needed R&R.  The boys loved the sand and we enjoyed a picnic and beautiful sunset.

At home in Orem

Even though we are not actually at hour home in Orem, things are still happening.  Like our fence that is actually up and finished.  Caleb and our neighbors put in many, many hours on this but it wasn't quite finished before we had to head out.  Our wonderful neighbors finished it up for us.

Also, before we left, Caleb and I teamed up for a major wall art project.  I got the idea of this blog.  It took about 4 hours with both of us on our own jigsaw to cut it all out but in the end, it was worth it.  The picture doesn't do the size justice.  That wall is huge so it works out great.

getting a little nostalgic thinking about our new house that we are not living in...but I'm over it :-) We are enjoying exploring the big city of Seattle and we'll be back before we know it!

I love Date Night

A friend in the office (who's wife and 3 kids are still in Utah) offered to stay at our apartment while the kids slept so we could go on a date.  Its always late when Caleb gets home but this turned out perfect.

A Bug-tastic time

I'm always looking for something for Cooper to do while Carter naps in the afternoons.  He absolutely loves crafts so we whipped these cute egg-carton bugs up and then we went out for a bug-walk to find some awesome bugs.  All that was missing was a lesson plan ;-)

As you can see, I enjoy it probably as much as Cooper :-)

DEEP Sleeper

AMAZING!

Surprise,

Arizona that is.  Yes there is a little town there called Surprise.  We went there this past weekend (me and the boys) to watch my dad play in the Seniors National Tennis Tournament.  After all these years of him going to my many, many sporting events, it was awesome being able to go and support him.  

He of course did AMAZING, winning all 4 of his matches.  The whole team ended up taking 3rd in the tournament (and if you ask me, its because my dad/best player couldn't play on Sunday with them in the finals).  But I'd take being ranked 3rd in the nation any day!  

So proud of him!

Coop got a nice Rock Spa treatment from Grandma while I watched the match. :-)

Of course between matches we had to entertain the boys.  Here we are at the park just hangin.

Carter was not feeling well this day.  Turns out he caught his brother's cold.  He was a definite Mama's boy that day.

Love this picture!  I see it and start singing "Hi-ho, hi-ho, its off to work we go!

Can't wait for next year's Nationals!  I'm sure he'll be attending again!
