This last weekend I was able to participate in a 190 mile relay race called Spokane to Sandpoint. I have done 2 others similar to this in Oregon (Hood to Coast) and Utah (Wasatch Back Relay). Its about the only running race I enjoy doing since it involves a team. For those who are unfamiliar, you have a team of 12, each runner runs 3 legs at different times of the day ranging from 3-8 miles. You're team is constantly running through the day and night until you finish. It took our team 29 hours to arrive at the finish line(Friday morning to Saturday morning). It's definitely draining and hard and sleep-depriving but overall very fun. I think the best part is spending 29 hours in a car with 6 other ladies and becoming best of friends while cheering each other and other teams on as you pass them. Here are some pics from the event.
But before I show you any, I will preface that our team's name was "We got the Feet" based on the 80's song "We got the Beat" making our theme 80's...this is why we are dressed the way we are. And yes, I did run in a tutu. It actually was quite airy and light weight!

The 12 women that made up our team.
What are big sisters for if not to feather your bangs and plaster them with hairspray so they stay while you run?
My big, little sis!
The start of the race had a Best Wig contest.
The 2nd leg had a costume contest. Here is our runner running as Octo-Mom.
These were the women in just our van, chillin out and waiting for the first van to finish their run.

Proof that I did actually run in a tutu.
Sorry its so blurry, I must have been too fast for the camera to catch!
No judging me for getting Cold Stone in the middle of my race! I had a good 8 hours before I had to run again and boy did it taste delicious!
Part of our race was to run into Silverwood Theme Park and ride the roller coaster Tremors. This was at 1 in the morning so it was freezing and pitch black. I don't know that I have ever screamed that much on a roller coaster...and I'm usually not a screamer. I just couldn't help it!
And here we are with our "Finisher" medals (because we weren't even close to placing, nor did we care) standing with pride that we finished this very long race...alive. Only those who participated in this specific race will truly know what that means.
You'd think my feet didn't train 5 miles of running everyday for 3 months before this.
I had 3 of these babies.
And just for my own purposes
Running times
-1st leg 4.4 miles: averaged 8:30 minute miles
-2nd leg 5.5 miles: averaged 8:00 minute miles
-3rd leg 4.6 miles: averaged 8:45 minute miles*
*Can you tell this was the last leg :-)

That is awesome and I love the costumes! Nice times.
You almost make me want to do one of these. Nice times! At lest, compared me they are nice. :) Maybe I'll have to hit my ward up for some ladies willing to run with me...
