I love the subjects you are taking pictures of, but I have no idea about cameras!
looks great! So is this a DX or an FX lens? I'd recommend utilizing the really low f-stops that this lens allows. I'd shoot in full manual or aperture-priority and shoot way down at 1.8 or 2.0 on those close-ups, and stay under 2.8 for most stuff. You'll see some great bokeh (blurred) effects!
